BLOOMINGTON − Andres Negron-Carrero and Henny Schminke have new goals for their senior year.

Both finished their junior track seasons on the podium at the IHSAA state finals over the weekend at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Complex.

Harrison's Negron-Carrero circled the track in 48 seconds flat, finishing sixth in the boys 400 meters.

West Lafayette's Schminke placed seventh in the girls 800 in 2:13.41.

Harrison junior Emma Gu advanced to the individual singles state finals after easing to two victories in Saturday's regional tournament at Kokomo.

Gu defeated Mississinewa senior Madison Fuqua 6-0, 6-0 in the regional semifinal, then double bageled Fort Wayne Carroll sophomore Jana Beier in the regional championship.

Gu improved to 26-0 this season and advances to Friday's state quarterfinals at Park Tudor in Indianapolis. Gu plays unbeaten (27-0) Kathryn Wilson of Columbus North at 2 p.m. Friday.

Delphi's state tournament run ended in the semifinals of the Class 2A Warsaw Semistate.

Eventual semistate champion Andrean got a combined no-hitter from Abbey Bond, who struck out 10 in five innings, and Sadie Drousias in an 11-1 six-inning victory.

Delphi's lone run came in the sixth when freshman Abie Pearson drove in fellow freshman Airy Lattimore.

Twin Lakes' boys golf team was dominant at Logansport's Dykeman Park on Friday, completing a sectional three-peat.

The Indians had four of the top five overall individual performances and carded a team score of 299, beating runner-up Rochester by 28 strokes. Rensselaer was third with a 342.

Twin Lakes' Leo Dellinger earned individual medalist honors with a 70. Teammates Nick Alexander (74) and Jamison Ousley (76) finished second and third, respectively. Rounding out the Indians' scorecard was Jack Kaufman, who placed fifth individually with a 79.
